SCHOOLS AND CLUBS

Encouraging our youth to help those in need and participate in outreach efforts is important. Each time they help the community, everyone grows. It’s not just companies that donate to charity. Although Project Kind serves dozens of communities throughout NJ and the country, we work in tandem with youth groups, high school organizations and clubs to help collect donations throughout the year. Products like toiletries, Kind notes, and even snacks go a long way for those that need it.

Project Kind is one of the charities that pick-up donations in NJ, so this makes things easier for students and youth to coordinate even if they do not have cars. Setting up a donation box in a school is a wonderful way to make an impact.

Project Kind not only provides outreach to those experiencing homelessness, it also helps those in need with rent, electricity payments, and even identification cards.

Lastly, students and youth groups can coordinate fundraisers. As with most monetary donations to Project Kind, the money goes to help someone in need—either with food, housing, or even to avoid eviction.

Highschool Benefit Dinner — One Journey at a Time

Whether schools have a Project Kind donation box or not, they can host a benefit dinner. Project Kind’s “One Journey at a Time” benefit dinner is fully student-run. They find restaurants or caterers that are willing to donate food—it can be pizza, pasta dinner, or something more elaborate. The students also donate their time by selling tickets to the community, setting up and taking down the event, and even serve guests.

Project Kind coordinates with our friends to find speakers that will talk about their journey from homeless to housed and how that has impacted them on a larger scale. Guests are able to enjoy a meal and hear fulfilling and impactful speaker. Students that wondered how to best reach out to those experiencing homelessness will have a better understanding of what it is, what it isn’t, and how it impacts more than just the one person we help.

Project Kind and Toyota Partnership

Toyota helps Project Kind with its corporate charity partnership. Beyond donating items and money, Toyota donated a Sienna minivan to Jenny DePaul, founder and creator of Project Kind, so she has a vehicle to bring donated items to those in need. The company also donated a substantial amount of food items in the van for outreach efforts to those experiencing homelessness.

We look forward to a continued partnership with Toyota, our valued partner in kindness.

Why Do Corporations Give to Charity?

Corporations gift items, money, and time for different reasons. Some may realize the massive impact they can have while others have a personal connection to the communities they serve. Project Kind is fortunate enough to have a large warehouse space for corporate events that assist in outreach to those experiencing homelessness. Beyond teambuilding activities that break the ice and make everyone feel welcomed, this event lets employees make sandwiches and kindness notes for outreach. Further, they can make toiletry bags and assemble lunch bags. Project Kind will then deliver the fruits of their labor to those most in need. Your company can make a real impact and help those most in need by providing a meal and other items.

How Much Can a Corporation Donate to Charity?

Companies cannot deduct more than 10 percent per year of pre-tax income. However, they can carry any excess over 10 percent forward for five years. Ask your accountant and finance team for more information.
